Silver porringer from 1704

A silver porringer with 8 lobes and a circular foot. The lobes are separated by ribs with an S-shaped curve which at the bottom spouts in two symmetrical volutes. At the end of the volutes is a dotted engraving in the shape of a flower. The molded ears consist of two lions that shoulder a crown.

The porringer is in excellent condition. The maker’s mark is quite weary but based on the contour and the period the silversmith is most likely Jan de Pauw I.

Silversmith: Presumably Jan de Pauw I

City mark: Haarlem
Dimensions: Diameter 14 cm. Ear-to-ear 23,5 cm. Height 4 cm
